Understanding How CBD Oil Works

CBD is a type of cannabinoid or chemical compound, that exists in cannabis and hemp plants. CBD is not psychoactive, meaning it will not produce the “high” or intoxicating effects of THC. It does not have any psychoactive effects. CBD oil has become popular in the last decade or so because it has properties that help with various ailments such as pain, inflammation, anxiety, depression, and more.

CBD oil can be taken in many different forms such as capsules, tinctures, edibles, sprays, or just by smoking a CBD-rich weed like marijuana. The three major ways of using CBD oil are through a topical application (applying it directly onto the skin), oral consumption (taking it by mouth), or using inhalants (inhaling vapors from CBD-rich products).

There are many health different benefits that can come with taking CBD oil.

How Does CBD Oil Improve My Health?

People use CBD oil for a variety of health conditions. Many people who suffer from chronic illnesses have found relief through taking CBD. This oil interacts directly with the cells that cause chronic illness, by alleviating symptoms like pain or inflammation.

CBD oil works by interacting with the endocannabinoid system in the body. This system is responsible for many things including mood, appetite, and pain. The oil interacts with this system to reduce inflammation, pain, and anxiety.

CBD specifically interacts with receptors in your brain that are naturally occurring and come from cannabis plants like hemp. Cannabinoid receptors are what work in the brain once introduced to the oil. When CBD interacts with these, it helps reduce inflammation and pain in the body without a high of any kind.

It has also been studied for anti-anxiety and pain relief properties and possesses neuroprotective properties that can be beneficial for those with neurological disorders.

Because CBD oil is natural, it is more effective in treating the symptoms of anxiety and depression than prescription drugs. Stanford University research has found that CBD oil can reduce mental and physical symptoms of anxiety. These include racing thoughts and heart palpitations. They also found that using it resulted in lower levels of depression among study participants, which may have been due to its anti-inflammatory effect.

More importantly, it appeals to certain people because they find that their mood improves when they take CBD oil, and they don’t need to suffer through the infamous side effects that come with taking prescriptions for anxiety or depression.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Even though the oil has become popular, it’s important to note that some experience mild side effects. Several common side effects include headache, dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, and diarrhea. In rare cases, people have experienced seizures or psychosis.

Don’t let the possibility of side effects deter you from trying it out. The most important thing to remember is that everyone reacts differently to CBD oil. It can take some time before you find the dosage that works for you. For some, the benefits outweigh the risks and can help improve your quality of life.
